
Christy Harris
Christy Harris is excited to return to her hometown to join the KIPP STRIVE team as the Lower School Dean. Ms. Harris was born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia where she attended Walter White Elementary, Southwest Middle, and B.E. Mays High School. She received a B.A. in English from the University of Georgia and a M.A. in English from Georgia State University. She began her teaching career as an English teacher at Ben Carson Honors Prep School through the Teach For America program. During her term with TFA, she served as a School Site Coordinator and Secondary English Learning Team Leader. At Ben Carson, she also served as the English grade level chair, girls track coach, and founder of the youth poetry club. Ms. Harris moved to New York in 2005 to attend the Publishing Institute at New York University. She became a founding English teacher at Achievement First Crown Heights Middle School in Brooklyn, NY. Ms. Harris served as the After School Coordinator and Saturday School Director. In 2007, she attended the KIPP Pathways Leadership Institute and became the Lower School Dean of Culture at Achievement First. Ms. Harris is very passionate about the fight for educational equality and brings a relentless spirit to the STRIVE team.
